One of my personal beautiful collection. Well cared, all function works well. It is very rare with consideration of its age (80+y). Its feature is very impressive: "Rich in Colour" (personal hand-on experience) in low-lit condition, even if at F2. Please refer to two sample photos.
A real Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 85/2, Very rare Pre War and Heavy Brass version, produced in 1936.
Very minimum signs of normal use (last photo showing Zeiss bubbles, dusts, minor signs/marks and other optical imperfection), but nothing major. Neither separation, fungus, nor scratch presented. There are some little signs of normal use on its barrel and front filter thread (I couldn't find the right size of screw-in filter to test the thread, thus it may affect the use of screw-in filter/hood; however the original filter or hood is push-on type, and there is no impact on the use of original accessories). Please refer to all photos of the very item to be sold. Please be aware of the fact that the thread diameter seems to be between 49mm and 50mm, which is different from other common versions of similar Zeiss lenses. I don't have original push-on filter, cap or hood for the lens. I use a "customized" filter adapter (made of brass and branded as "Heliopan") to receive the normal 52mm accessories. If you want the adapter, I can leave it on the lens, at "free of charge", but not liable for any responsibility. Please let me know in advance.
The lens is sold "as it is" because of its scarcity and all kinds of "imperfection"; neither returns, exchange, nor partial refund is accepted for overseas buyers.

Aperture blades are perfect, focus and aperture rings rotate properly. I don't have original Contax body to test the distance scale, but I get a correct infinite focus on Sony NEX 7 using a KIPON adapter. If you want the adapter, please let me know and I can add it (newly purchased) in the package for $100. Due to its age (80+ years old), the lens might need calibration on the focus distance scale as I didn't test it in person.
Please search Henry Scherer's website (zeisscamera) for the features of this lens. Based on his saying, this lens is "colour corrected". Quoted from his website, "In modern words "Color Corrected" means "APO". An 85mm f2.0 Sonnar can be used to make very high quality color split negatives ..." This is verified by my personal test on NEX 7; in my own opinion, the colour is superior to Zeiss Contarex (produced in 1970s'), in low-lit condition (slightly warmer than Contarex 50/2). Two samples are provided for your reference; both shot in low lit evironment and high ISO set, at F2 by Sony NEX 7; not software enhanced. One sample shot in normal light condition is also provided for your reference.
